The Division of International Emergency Medicine provides an academic home for emergency physicians who practice global health in the USC Department of Emergency Medicine. Our faculty are active across the globe and work with organizations such as Doctors without Borders, International Rescue Committee, International Medical Corps, Physicians for Human Rights, Oxfam, the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, and Community Partners International, among others.

Our primary areas of activity include:

  • Humanitarian Action: We develop evidence-based approaches to improving the delivery of humanitarian aid worldwide.
  • Emergency Care: We strengthen the delivery of emergency care globally via research and education.
  • Health Systems in Resource-Poor Settings: We support initiatives to strengthen the delivery of health care in resource poor settings that are affected by recent conflict, climate change, or extreme poverty.
